Clare's work is deeply linked to the traditional use of relief printmaking as a form of book art. Much of it has a strong emphasis on design and narrative. Often inspiration comes from the coastline on which Clare lives and in particular the plant life that struggles to survive there. Traditional materials such as lino, wood and cardboard are often combined in one print and the use of different papers and hand burnishing creates subtle textures. Clare completed her Degree in Illustration and Printmaking at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art in Dundee.
