Clare creates one-off designs from which she produces hand-woven cloth for cushions, throws, small upholstery items and scarves. As well as, making hand-woven wall hangings to commission, she works with linen, silk, cotton and wool, which she often dyes to produce a wider range of colours.
Clare's sources of inspiration and ideas come mainly from natural forms and architecture with European and Far Eastern landscape colours. Her work ranges from single to triple cloth, which employs techniques such as figuring, pique, pleating and cording. She equates the way she mixes the colours of the yarn to painting.
Clare studied textile design at Derbyshire College of Higher Education.
